Some people are blessed with the ability to sing anything, often without even seeming to try. But most of us just don’t have that natural talent, no matter how hard we try or how much we love to sing. Fear Not, we’ve put together our top 40 easy karaoke songs for males for all the beginners to get stuck into without (too much) risk of embarrassment. Some of them are easy to sing. Others just need a whole lot of enthusiasm. Check out top picks after the jump
1. Backstreet Boys – ‘I Want It That Way’
If you always wanted to be in a boy band, get some friends over for some bootleg Backstreet Boys action. ‘I Want It That Way’ has enough different lead parts and harmonies for everyone to have their chance to shine. Just don’t fight over who gets to do Nick’s “Don’t wanna hear you saaaaay…” line.
2. One Direction – ‘Story Of My Life’
The alternative approach to boyband karaoke is to do every single voice yourself. This brings two advantages. 1) Everyone will be entertained by you impersonating every member of 1D. And 2), you can be Harry AND Zayn!
3. Neil Diamond – ‘Sweet Caroline’
Next up on our 40 Easy Songs For Males list is ‘Sweet Caroline’ by Neil Diamond. If you’re a football fan you’ve probably been singing this all summer, so you’ll already be well rehearsed. Get everyone to join in for the “ba ba baaa!” and enjoy being so good (SO GOOD, SO GOOD!).
4. Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus – ‘Old Town Road’
You can do ‘Old Town Road’ with a friend, but you’ll have just as much fun doing both Lil Nas and Papa Ray Cyrus’s parts yourself. All you’ve got to master is remembering not to rap during the country sections, and not to rap with a country singer accent.
5. The Calling – ‘Wherever You Will Go’
‘Wherever You Will Go’ calls for two very specific skills. You need to be sensitive but also have some rock star attitude. Channel that passion! Shout it out with feeling!
6. Justin Bieber – ‘Love Yourself’
Number 6 in our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males is ‘Love Yourself’. The topline on Bieb’s hit is deceptively simple. The lyrics (written with Ed Sheeran) are a little wordy, but Sing King will help you with that. So go low with a husky tone and you’ll soon be a Belieber for your own talents.
7. Frank Sinatra – ‘My Way’
Ol’ Blue Eyes wouldn’t have known this at the time, but his songs are an absolute gift for the karaoke noob, and perfect fodder for our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list. His half-sung / half-spoken style allows you to be Rat Pack cool, even if your voice is more like Mickey Mouse.
8. Rick Astley – ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’
It’s amazing to think that Rick was just 20 when he sang this – he sounds like an old Motown singer! You probably won’t be blessed with his golden tone, but that doesn’t matter. Just have fun with it.
9. The Beatles – ‘Yesterday’
Simple, beautiful melodies are the key to many of The Beatles’ most famous moments, and ‘Yesterday’ is a fine example. This doesn’t require any flashy singing at all – just the ability to get its sad, reflective tone just right.
10. The Beatles – ‘Hey Jude’
Most of which is also true to ‘Hey Jude’, next on our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list. The twist this time is to replace that gloom with a grin, and to get everyone in the room to join in with the celebratory “na na na nas” at the end. And there are a lot of them, so you’ll appreciate the help.
11. Passenger – ‘Let Her Go’
Passenger has a really unique voice. Unless you are Passenger (in which case, good job on the singing), you should put your own style on it – if you’re doing an impression of him you run the risk of sounding like Kermit The Frog.
12. Elvis Presley – ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’
No Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list would be complete without The King. Elvis also has a really unique voice, but this time doing your best impersonation is the winning strategy. There are no massively challenging notes in this one, so go deep with your best Southern drawl and you’ll capture some of that throwback Elvis magic.
13. Lewis Capaldi – ‘Someone You Loved’
The low sections should be manageable for a newbie and the big moments in the chorus you can holler through. The trap is when Lewis moves from lows to highs on “Now the day bleeds into nightfall.” The solution… hmm, I reckon you shout that line too.
14. Calum Scott – ‘Dancing On My Own’
We all need a little me time. Whether you’ve got a night in by yourself or you’re warming up for a big night out, our mate Calum has given us the perfect soundtrack for it. Dance like no-one’s watching. Sing like no-one can hear you.
15. John Denver – ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’
Number 15 on our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list is John Denver. Save this one for a family bash. Loosen up your older relatives with a drink or three, get through the first verse and everyone will soon be singing along as they dream of going back to West Virginia. Even if they’ve never been there.
16. Enrique Iglesias – ‘Hero’
17. Jason Mraz – ‘I Won’t Give Up’
If your first attempt at karaoke was ‘Take On Me’, then clearly you haven’t acquainted yourself with our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list. We recommend you try some Jason Mraz instead. The first half of the song calls for little more than a whisper, and there’s a weird sort of semi-rapped section later on that you can nail on the first attempt.
18. Frankie Valli – ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’
Time for some old-fashioned showmanship. Stay as still as possible and sing with your gentlest, most breathy voice. Then BAM! Hit them with the full power of “I love you baby!” They won’t be able to take their eyes off you.
19. John Legend – ‘All Of Me’
We’re not going to lie – this is the toughest song to sing on our list. That’s because John Legend (by name and nature) makes everything seem so effortless. But the backing vocals will save the day, giving even the pitchiest singer something to harmonise with to make them sound good.
20. John Lennon – ‘Imagine’
If it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month or even your year, why not call on your favourite Beatle (or second favourite, the choice is yours – sorry Ringo) to imagine that a better world is possible?
21. Oasis – ‘Wonderwall’
You probably won’t even need to read the lyrics for this one. And that’s why it’s on our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list. Swagger with your best Liam Gallagher pose, copy his snarl, and roll with it! And if that doesn’t work, don’t worry – you’ll be drowned out by everyone singing along anyhow.
22. Deep Blue Something – ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’
Number 22 on our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list is ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’. A beginner’s tip for karaoke: any quiet/loud/quiet rock song is your friend. Sing the verses as best you can, leap around like a lunatic as you howl the hook, and everyone will be captivated.
23. Green Day – ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’
Want to hit your friends right in the feels? Here’s Green Day to help you out with a sad, deep song that almost anyone can sing. Hey, who’s cutting onions in here?
24. Backstreet Boys – ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’
I know we’ve already had ‘I Want It That Way’, but Backstreet’s back, alright! As with their other big hit, this one gives everyone a chance to join in. The haunted house dance moves are easy too… or at least they are until they bust out the big moves at the end.
25. Radiohead – ‘Creep’
Everyone’s experience of singing ‘Creep’: “I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo.” OK, this is easy, I’ve got this. Then Thom Yorke lets rip with an anguished howl: OMG, I can’t do that. What have I got myself into?
26. Ronan Keating – ‘When You Say Nothing At All’
Some feelings are just too awkward to say out loud. But there’s a song that speaks of almost every emotion possible. Being a top lad, Ronan knows this. And he was even kind enough not to make this too tricky for beginners to sing.
27. Ben E. King – ‘Stand By Me’
Ben E. King sang every word of ‘Stand By Me’ from the heart. That’s exactly what you need to do. Don’t worry about mastering the stronger delivery of “darlin’, darlin’” – just sing it like you mean it and you’ll have mastered our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list in no time.
28. Lionel Richie – ‘Hello’
Singing to your crush is a risky plan. But if you’re going to do it, be bold! If you can add some suave style to Lionel’s romantic words, you’ll be in with a chance (results may vary).
29. Ed Sheeran – ‘Happier’
30. Ed Sheeran – ‘Perfect’
If anyone knows the key to writing a killer song, it’s Ed. But when it comes to an easy Ed karaoke song, please for the love of god resist doing ‘Sing’ or ‘Thinking Out Loud’. ‘Happier’ is our tip for starting out singing Ed. Some of the high notes are hard, but it’ll be worth it when you get to the big crescendo. If you’ve done well with that, ‘Perfect’ is your next step. That’s all about getting the rhythm and phrasing of “You look perfect” erm… perfect.
31. Green Day – ‘Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)’
Green Day have plenty of supersonic songs you can shout over, but there’s nowhere to hide in this one. Luckily it’s a good fit for a beginner. There are a lot of words in each line, so don’t forget to take a breath in the pauses!
32. Elvis Presley – ‘Suspicious Minds’
The quicker tempo might make this even easier than ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’. Switch from a drawl to a croon on the “Oh, let our live survive” bridge, slick your hair into a quiff, and you’ll be an adequate Elvis.
33. James Arthur – ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’
You probably have a mate who looks a bit like James Arthur. Unfortunately for wannabe karaoke kings, singing like him is much much harder, as you’ll have guessed from hearing ‘Falling Like The Stars’. As well as being such a great singer, James puts a lot of his personality into his performances. And that’s how you can make ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ your own.
34. Blink-182 – ‘I Miss You’
Blink 182 are number 34 on our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list. This is perfect if you have a punk pal to join you. Whoever does the first verse needs a gloomy baritone, while the second calls for a higher-pitched whine. Then mix them together for the chorus. That’s our 101 on how to sing Blink-182.
35. The Commodores – ‘Easy’
Ironically, ‘Easy’ is one of the harder songs on this list. Luckily Lionel Richie avoids any major vocal gymnastics, so this is mostly a case of seeing how smooth your own voice can be. Achieve that and it’ll be easy. Like a Sunday morning.
36. Goo Goo Dolls – ‘Iris’
Remember our plan for ‘Wherever You Will Go’ earlier? Do it again for ‘Iris’. Bonus tip: Avoid a cringefest by singing it to anyone you know named Iris.
37. Johnny Cash – ‘Hurt’
As with Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash’s vocal is brilliant because it’s so natural. All you need to do is put on your deepest voice (chipmunks need not apply), follow the phrasing of the lyrics, and you’re done!
38. Calum Scott – ‘You Are The Reason’
Ok, you might not be able to match the mountain highs and ocean lows of Calum’s voice. But the slow tempo and relatively steady vocal range can help you sound classy even without his talent. Cheers Calum.
39. Stevie Wonder – ‘I Just Called To Say I Love You’
If you’re a beginner to this karaoke business, Stevie Wonder’s sappiest love song is one you can conquer. You don’t need to match his grace and soul for the song to work. Just don’t trip over that key change!
40. Louis Armstrong – ‘What A Wonderful World’
It’s the last song of the night! And our Easy Karaoke Songs For Males list. So let’s end on a high. Stretch that smile from cheek-to-cheek, and do your best approximation of Louis’ velvet croon. What a wonderful world it is.
