2014…we were introduced to the wickedly talented Adele Dazeem, Ellen’s Oscars selfie broke the internet, and Pharrell was rockin’ some really big hats. We were also singing along to some of the best hits of the decade! Join us as we look back at 20 Karaoke Classics Turning 10 in 2024!

Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass 

Before Meghan Trainor made us look in 2022, she was ‘All About That Bass’ in 2014! Appearing on her debut EP, Title, alongside ‘Dear Future Husband’, this bubblegum pop, doo-wop self-love anthem is the definition of an earworm karaoke track, and we can guarantee all these years later you still know all the words!

Jeremih ft. YG – Don’t Tell ‘Em

Don’t just tell ‘em, sing to ‘em! With a staccato beat and a catchy chorus that interpolates Snap’s 1992 ‘Rhythm Is a Dancer’, we can’t believe we’ve been jamming to Jermemih’s electro-R&B hit for 10 years! To this day we’re still waiting for a music video….

Maroon 5 – Sugar 

Comparing a girl to sugar, American band Maroon 5’s disco-influenced funk pop bop and its fun Wedding Crashers inspired music video is sure to lift anyone’s spirits! Energetic and cheerful, this karaoke song was a commercial hit, peaking at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. 

Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud

We’ll be lovin’ this song till we’re seventy! Appearing on his second studio album, x, alongside tracks like ‘Photograph’, this hit karaoke ballad is quintessential romantic Ed Sheeran! It may no longer be 2014, but it stands the test of time as a timeless choice for a wedding song.

Calvin Harris – Summer 

‘Wenomechainsama’! This catchy karaoke song from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris may have first popped up on the scene a decade ago, but it still remains one of our favourite summer anthems! 

Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea & Big Sean – Problem

Gogo boots to the ready! 2014 was a big year for Ari, and this song was everywhere! Featuring Iggy Azalea and Ari’s ex-flame, Big Sean, ‘Problem’ is an uptempo dance-pop and R&B karaoke song with influences of funk that you just can’t help but sing-along to!

One Direction – Steal My Girl 

We know, we know, we know for sure… that you remember this karaoke throwback! The lead single from the beloved British-Irish boyband’s fourth studio album, Four, this song had us fangirling to the max and wishing it was about us. 

Sam Smith – Stay With Me 

No karaoke night is complete without a good old ballad. Gospel-inspired, ‘Stay With Me’ is a poignant, yearning and vulnerable classic from Sam Smith that continues to pull our heartstrings all these years later.

Taylor Swift – Blank Space 

We’ve got a long list of Karaoke Classics Turning 10 in 2024, but ‘Blank Space’ rightfully earns itself a spot! Appearing on Taylor’s fifth studio album, 1989, this flirtatious electropop hit, inspired by the media perception of her dating life and relationships, may have a minimalistic production, but is full of melodies, hooks and catchy lyrics that make it irresistible to sing. ‘Blank Space’ is not only one of the biggest songs of 2014 but easily the decade! 

Walk the Moon – Shut Up and Dance 

A song that’s guaranteed to get everyone on the dancefloor, ‘Shut Up and Dance’ is based on lead singer Nicholas Petricca’s experience in an LA nightclub when his girlfriend invited him to dance. Envisioned by Petricca as an anthem for letting go of frustration and having fun, this is an easy-going karaoke song that has had us doing the opposite of shutting up for the last 10 years!

Nicki Minaj – Anaconda 

Sampling Sir Mix-a-Lot’s ‘Baby Got Back’, Nicki’s ‘Anaconda’ peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming her highest charting single at the time. We’re not surprised, as this karaoke song is undeniably catchy! 

Charli XCX – Boom Clap 

Appearing on the soundtrack for coming-of-age romance film, The Fault in Our Stars, British pop star Charli XCX has had us booming, clapping and singing-along to this electropop hit since 2014! Sugary and sweet, this is a karaoke song we’ve got playing on and on and on and on!

5 Seconds of Summer – She Looks So Perfect

Screaming, crying and throwing up at the fact that this song celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. This power pop tune saw success for the Australian heartthrobs, peaking at number one in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK. Still a perfect karaoke song to us, we’re so down to sing it whenever and wherever!

Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang

“Uh, B to the A to the N to the G to the, hey!” Bringing together three pop icons, ‘Bang Bang’ was the karaoke banger we needed in summer 2014! With fun and flirty lyrics, this song is such a vibe, and with it providing a chance to rap – what’s not to like?

Fall Out Boy – Centuries 

A karaoke song we’ll be singing for centuries to come, this song is a battlecry anthem, and was the lead single from Fall Out Boy’s sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho. Reaching number 10 on Billboard’s US Hot 100 chart, ‘Centuries’ was the band’s fourth top ten hit, and their first in eight years since ‘This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race’. 

Becky G – Shower 

Becky G’s breakout hit about first love is a carefree, feel-good karaoke tune that’s guaranteed to always have us singing in the shower! Altogether now – “La-da-di, la-da-da, la-da-da”!

Kiesza – Hideaway

The debut single of Canadian artist Kiesza, ‘Hideaway’ was inspired by her and producer Afuni’s passion for 90s dance music. From its uptempo beat, to its iconic one-take music video featuring Kiesza’s red trainers and black suspenders, this is an infectious deep house karaoke song we couldn’t get enough of in 2014!

Tinashe ft. ScHoolboy Q – 2 On 

This karaoke track may be 10 years old, but it still gets us turnt! Sampling Sean Paul’s 2005 single, ‘We Be Burnin’’, ‘2 On’ is an upbeat R&B and snap club anthem all about partying and living life to the fullest!

Ariana Grande ft. The Weeknd – Love Me Harder 

Ari’s sophomore studio album, My Everything, boasts so many bangers, including ‘One Last Time’ and ‘Break Free’, but it’s ‘Love Me Harder’ that grabs a spot on our listicle! Her first collaboration with The Weeknd, ‘Love Me Harder’ introduced us to this powerhouse dynamic duo! A synth-pop R&B ballad with an electro-heavy chorus, and lyrics full of double entendres, this is a seductive karaoke track we couldn’t love any harder if we tried! 

Fetty Wap – Trap Queen 

A sleeper hit, Fetty Wap’s ‘Trap Queen’ didn’t enter the Billboard Hot 100 until a year later, mid-2015, where it peaked at number two, and  spent 25 consecutive weeks in the top 10! From its beat to its lyrics, this is an irresistible karaoke track, so grab your ride or die and get singing!
